New ride? Bike questions? Need a bike facelift? We got you covered on all things Revel Bikes!
New Bike Day! Get Set Up – You Did it! You joined the Revel Crew! Congrats on the new ride. Use this guide to get set up for 2 wheeled success.
Open it up… CAREFULLY! Inspect your new frame, wheels, and components for any signs of shipping wear and tear. Hold onto that packaging until every piece is in your hands and ready to assemble.
Head to Pro Mechanic! It is crucial to follow all component manufacturers assembly and torque specifications – questions on this? A pro mechanic will get you dialed!
Here’s what needs to happen:
- Remove packaging materials. Inspect bike thoroughly for any shipping damage. SAVE PACKAGE MATERIAL… until your bike is ready to roll.
- Install front wheel (install front rotor if not already installed, careful to not cross-thread rotor bolts, torque to spec.)
- Torque front axle to spec.
- Remove valve core from both wheels, add sealant to tires, re-install valve cores and inflate!
- Install handlebars. Torque stem face plate to spec.
- Set controls to your preferences. Torque bolts to manufacturer spec.
- Set your desired seat height. Torque seat collar to spec.
- Set up suspension. (again, follow the brand guidelines on suspension set up!)
- Go ride your bike! (wear a helmet too!)
Perfect the Squish – Set your sag to 25-30% for the rear shock and 20-25% for the front fork and make adjustments to performance from there. Your Revel Bike will perform optimally when both front and rear suspension are set to your weight, riding style, and trails.
Get Pumping – Check tire pressure and fill if necessary! We recommend 25-30 PSI in the rear and 22-28 PSI in the front depending on weight, riding conditions, and trail variations.
Torque to the Sweet Spot – Inspect each bolt for proper tightness. Your local mechanic can properly assess and adjust tightness as needed.
Double, Triple, QUADRUPLE Check – Brake levers should be firm and not making contact with the handlebar when squeezed. Drivetrain and dropper post should operate smoothly without skipping or binding.
Ride Safe. Wear a Helmet – Helmets are sexy, fun, and not to mention, life savers. Wear one!
