Meet The Revel Athletes!

What an awesome 2024 for the Revel Bikes Athlete Team! Over the past few weeks, we’ve caught up with each of them to find out what their personal highlights from the past season have been. Whether it was their performance between the tape, new tricks learned, or new riding destinations reached, it’s clear our team had an epic season. So we wanted to take some time to brag about how exceptional they are.

Cheers to 2024 Team!

Find out about each of our riders' 2024 season below!

I went into 2024 knowing a lot of life was gonna happen and that the bike may have to fall wherever it did. Like the saying goes, you can’t control the wind, but you can adjust your sails. Fortunately, I was lucky to build some good fitness and put things together a fair bit between the tape. I raced my Ranger, Jefe, and Rover and put in around 11K miles for the year across #AllTheBikes. Add into that we are bringing MTB nationals to my hometown for the next two years and I’m feeling pretty fired up for 2025!” Gordon Wadsworth

Despite his humble assessment, Team Rider Gordon Wadsworth has had one hell of a year… though it’s hard to remember a time when he didn’t ?. From making the USAC XCM National Team, placing 6th in XCM Nationals and competing at the XCM Worlds, to collecting podiums like they’re candy including 1st place at 24HOP solo SS, ORAMM, Maah Daah Hey 100, Pisgah Stage Race duos, GRUSK and Grinduro PA, Gordon didn’t just have a good year, he went on a crusade against one dimensional bike racing, regularly switching between MTB, SS MTB and Gravel races.

On top of his packed race season Gordon also puts on 2 races with The Appalachian Journey. A unique side-by-side partner format gravel race in his beloved home county of Floyd, VA, that he and his wife Emy have been quietly organizing and hosting for the past 3 years. It asks riders to think bigger than themselves, channeling a spirit of “better together” both as a team and a community.

We’re not sure how he does it all, but we’re sure glad he does!

The Appalachian Journey - The idea for the ‘The Journey’ comes from Gordon and Emy’s love of Appalachia and deep desire to share gravel and off-road riding, and a sense of community that exists nowhere else, with the world. The duo format asks riders to think bigger than themselves, channeling a spirit of “better together” both as a team and a community. Cooperation and sharing are at the heart of rural Appalachian culture and The Appalachian Journey aims to embody that.

“The stoke was real this season. From having such a dialed rig and meeting some amazing people…. there’s been countless memorable moments, and I am beyond stoked to of been offered this opportunity by such an incredible team at Revel.

It’s been an incredible experience traveling around the country getting invited to events promoting women in freeride! The two most memorable events I attended were She Shreds Legacy and Thunderstruck. She Shreds opened me up to a whole world of riders from around the scene creating new connections. I mean we had a crew of almost 30 ladies absolutely sending it on some of the biggest and gnarliest jumps out west. This is also where Amy Shenton and I hit some side-by-side drop over a side-by-side on the iconic jump line Forty at Legacy Bike Park. The side-by-side laps didn’t stop in Montana, but they carried on at Thunderstruck at Thunder Mountain Bike Park. Thunderstruck has become a staple in women’s freeride out here in the East Coast. This year the park opened a brand-new feature on the course, a 60ft absolute launcher of a double. Our crew at Thunderstruck got the first public hits on it. It was an incredible time watching all the ladies hit this feature on the largest public jump line in North America. This season was filled with good times??”

There’s not too much more we can say about Maddy Anzellotti’s 2024 season that she hasn’t already said, but if we could sum it in a few words, it’d be a season of big hits and good times surrounded by great people, and that sounds pretty dang good to us.

‘Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.’ – Walt Whitman

It’s been a happy, crazy busy, fulfilling journey. Learning to be more and more in the moment and just going with the flow purposefully has been the motto of the year and I’m so psyched for the year behind and what’s ahead. From new friendships to a first unplanned World Cup, daycare pickups with a 3-year-old that would last more than an hour on my Rascal V2 Pony Boy… dang, I’m feeling fulfilled. Biking, it changes you ?”

From racing in the UCI XCM Nationals and Lake Placid World Cup to winning the Eastern State Triple Crown Tira Denny had an epic return to the XC MTB race scene this year. The moments in between were just as special, “getting to hold Zoey on my shoulders on the podium”, “date rides with Mike and catching up with friends by bike” and “Zoey shotgun rides on ‘Mommy’s golden bike’. Always pick #1 :) ”

“What an unforgettable season! From traveling the country with my family to sharing epic rides with friends at every stop, it was one big adventure. I also jumped over my daughters every place I could which was so much fun to see their faces as I was in the air above them. This season was all about the perfect balance of being a mom and still getting to ride my bike with friends. Couldn’t have asked for a better season!”

From jumping over her daughters to jumping over a side-by-side next to Maddy Anzellorri, taking on whistler bike park on her Rascal and traveling all over the US attending some of the coolest freeride events around, one big adventure sounds like an understatement for Amy Shenton’s epic 2024 season.

Peter Hogan

“This year I really grew my confidence as a racer. I put in work daily for months on end and I faced the imposter syndrome head on. I belong on the pointy end of a bike race, and I felt more competitive and focused than I ever had. Like a machine. I dealt with the low moments and leaned on my support system to push through. I learned a lot about myself this season through the bike. “

Peter Hogan kicked things off strong this season with a win at Open Range Gravel, he keeping his “elbows sharp and fought for position at some of the biggest off-road races in the country” all season long and putting in over 10 thousand between March and November. Despite his successes between the tape, it was the balance life and racing that was most rewarding.

“I’m probably most proud of working a full-time job, being a partner, a dog dad, and keeping up with a full-time training and racing load.”

“So stoked on all the traveling I was able to do this year. Got tires in the dirt in so many new places, met so many new people, and have just been so hyped on two wheels all year long. “

This year Jonny Davie hit the road and got on dirt all over the western US. From digging and riding in his hometown of Pocatello, ID, to road-tripping across the West, this season has been one to remember. He hit Boise MTB Fest, explored freeride zones and trails all over Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Teton Pass, WY. He ripped down to Revel HQ twice, competed in the King and Queen of the Crown Dirt Jump Comp and had some epic fun rides with our crew. Jonny wrapped it all up at the Green River Classic before making the move to Utah to chase year-round riding.

He may have settled down in one spot for the winter but after his last text to us it’s clear he’s never going to settled down.

“I rode istreet until it was dark then came back closer to home and rode the skatepark almost until 11”

“I traveled more this year than ever before! From central Mexico all the way north to whistler, BC and just about everything in between.”

A man, a van, and a plan: hit the road, ride bikes, have a good ass time. Well mission accomplished Dakota! From living in Mexico and riding with new friends to joining the Revel Crew at Sedona MTB Festival and roaming the county in his little green van ‘Dolores’ packed full of bikes, this year was one for the books. Dak and Dolores checked off countless worldclass riding destinations: Whistler, Sedona, Bellingham and even his favorite local trails in Big Sky and Bozeman MT. He also made it to the Northwest Tune-Up and Crankworx, coached groms as a guest pro at Woodward Park City’s summer camp, and was a TA at Montana State University… We mentioned he has a master’s degree in physics, right? Maybe that’s why he makes those jumps look so effortless.

2024 made me feel like a small fish in a big sea (and I mean this in a good way). It was a year full of firsts. From racing internationally, trying bikepacking, coaching high schoolers, doing my first big stage race, and racing in my local Boulder community (which is full of world class talent) this year broadened my horizons to the opportunities on the bike. While managing all this on top of a full-time job was hectic at best, and didn’t lead to any breakthrough results, it was a massive building block year where I feel rewarded and inspired to see so much talent and be in such beautiful places. As I head into next year, I hope to carry with me a balance of hard training/fitness finding with my eyes for exploration and joy seeking for myself and others. I am so excited for more to come in 2025 and more firsts!”

If this year was a building block year for Zoe Zwecker, she sure stacked a lot of blocks. From racing the Traka 200K in Girona, Spain, to Bikepacking around the southern half of Vancouver Island, tearing up the course at the Breck Epic back home in Colorado, coaching Boulder Junior Cycling (BJC) High School kids, and even capping the year off with a mini CX season Zoe’s whole 2024 looks like a highlight reel.
